Marcus Rashford to Miss Liverpool Clash Due to Illness, Amid Transfer Speculations
Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford will be absent from the team’s upcoming Premier League showdown against Liverpool due to illness, manager Rúben Amorim confirmed during a press conference on Friday.
“Marcus is ill and is not training. I think he’s going to be out,” Amorim stated, adding that Rashford’s condition mirrors challenges faced by other players in the squad.
This news comes amidst swirling speculation about Rashford’s future at Old Trafford. Earlier this week, reports alleged that the England international had met with a leading sports agency to explore a potential transfer. However, the 27-year-old dismissed these claims as “ridiculous.”
The transfer rumors gained traction after Rashford hinted at seeking a “new challenge” during an interview last month, following a string of reduced playing opportunities under Amorim. The forward, a product of United’s youth academy, was excluded from four consecutive matchday squads last month and remained an unused substitute in the team’s recent defeat to Newcastle.
Rashford’s absence is a significant blow for United as they gear up for a high-stakes encounter against Liverpool, further highlighting the challenges the squad faces under Amorim’s management.
