The Deputy National President, of Air Logistics, National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Mr Segun Musa, has tasked the Federal Government with the need to put the economy back on track by deploying strategic measures.

He made the remarks during a courtesy call by executive members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos Council, led by the Chairman, Mr. Adeleye Ajayi on Wednesday in Lagos.

The one-time governorship candidate in Lagos State appealed to the government to tackle food insecurity and transportation challenges headlong.

According to him, the government must use money realised from petrol subsidies to reduce inflation on food and transportation.

He reaffirmed the need to tackle unemployment at the grassroots to make people earn a living if we must get it right as a nation and tackle crimes.

“Capacity building is key at the grassroots level. Government should train youths so that they can become skillful and independent,” he said.

Musa also advised government agencies to study the Acts and Laws guiding their establishments in order not to shoot beyond their jurisdiction and responsibilities, as seen in some organisations.

While commending the Comptroller-General of Customs, Mr. Wale Adeniyi, the Maritime expert reaffirmed the need for the Nigeria Customs Service to engage critical stakeholders to chart a way forward if Nigeria must be seen as the business hub of Africa.

“Nigeria Customs Service should float a Data Bank as against the use of the Internet to check operational values.

“There is also a need to work on the clearance time to help increase investors’ confidence and boost trade facilitation” the

NAGAFF Deputy President said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Adeleye Ajayi, Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos Council congratulated Mr Musa on the recent conferment of the Patron of Nigerian Football Supporters Club on him.

“My relationship with you dates back more than 15 years when I was the President of the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN).

“My first event as MARAN President on Dry Ports Seminar was held at Premier Hotel, Ibadan and you had to fly to Ibadan and back to Lagos the same day and effectively participate” Ajayi explained.
