Trading activities closed in the negative on Tuesday, being the first trading day of the week on the Nigerian Exchange as the equity market index fell by 1.66% to close at 38,507.29 points being 648.99 points lower than 39,156.28 points recorded at the close of trading last week.
The market capitalisation also lost N340 billion to close at N20.069 trillion as against N20.409 trillion last week Friday.
Tuesday’s trading saw a total of 297,346.399 shares with market value of N3.65 billion traded in 4,402 deals.
Computer Warehouse Group led the gainers table having gained N0.11k to close at N1.24k per share. It was followed by Berger with N0.45k gain to close at N7.15k,then Red star Express gained N0.13k to close at N3.23k.
On the other hand,AirtelAfrica led the losers list after it lost N83.70k to close at N753.30,followed by Okomu oil which lost N11.00k to close at N105.50k and Cornerstone lost N0.05k to close at N0.50k.
Access bank was the toast of investors for the day as it had the biggest volumes of traded shares of 43.138 million shares worth N359.5 million followed by Sterling Bank with 33.2million shares valued at N52.13 million.
Most of the indices performance was positive as four out of the five sub-sectors tracked closed in green. The banking index gained 0.16%, the Insurance index gained 0.41%,the oil and gas index rose by 0.13% and the Industrial index also rose by 0.02% while the Consumer good index declined by 0.18%.
