The all-share index rose by 1.96 percent to close at 53,151.32 being 559.91 points higher than Wednesday’s 52,591.41 points while the market capitalisation appreciated by N302 billion to close trading at N28,654 trillion as against N28,352 trillion at the close of trade on Wednesday.
At the end of the day’s trading session, a total of 266.18 million shares with a market value of N5.11 billion were traded in 5,501 deals.
The market sentiment for the first time this week closed positive as the market recorded 27 gainers against 11 losers.
Top on the gainer’s list for the day was Industrial and Medical Gases which gained N1.00 to close at N11.00 and it was followed by Champion Breweries with N0.34k gain and a closing price of N3.76k, then Linkage Assurance gained N0.05k to close at N0.60k.
On the other hand, NPF Microfinance Bank lost N0.20k to close at N1.82k followed by UAC of Nigeria which lost N1.25k to close at N11.65k. Academy Press also lost N0.14k to close at N1.32k.
Transcorp Nigeria was the toast of investors for the day making it the stock with the highest volume of 47.7 million traded shares and it was followed by Acess Holdings with 25.3 million shares.
Hauwa Abu
