Measles Control: Authority monitors compliance over school closure in Adamawa

The Adamawa state government has embarked on monitoring of schools across the State to ensure total compliance to the government directive to close schools so as to curb the spread of measles in the state.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Mrs Aisha Umar,
said the exercise is to ensure students at both primary and secondary levels are immunized against the disease.

She warned that, government would sanction any school that defy the directives in the state, emphasizing that the exercise was necessary to prevent the further spread of the disease.

Health officials report that the state had 25 active cases for now without any causality.
