Media, Entertainment Key to Economic Resilience -Speaker Abbas

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Tajudeen Abbas, emphasizes that the media and entertainment sectors are crucial pillars of a vibrant and resilient economy, with the potential to attract investment and develop a skilled workforce.

He also stated that in today’s global economy, innovation in media and digital content plays a key role in driving economic resilience and shaping cultural influence.
Speaking at the launch of Luft Pay TV in Abuja, the Speaker, represented by Mr. Joshua Audu Gana, highlighted that the creation of Luft Pay TV holds great potential to strengthen Nigeria’s digital presence, linking the country to the global stage while sharing Nigerian stories, values, and voices with a wider audience.
“By investing in local talent, producing indigenous content, and leveraging cutting-edge technology, Luft PayTV is set to contribute significantly to national revenue while empowering our creative industries. The 10th Assembly, House of Representatives supports such initiatives that prioritise local development, and encourage healthy competition in the category of TV services, as they align with our legislative focus on creating sustainable economic opportunities that benefit all Nigerians”. He said.
Mr. Abbas further emphasized that the House of Representatives is prepared to back policies that will foster the growth of businesses like Luft PayTV, enabling them to prosper and make significant contributions to the economy.
“We are confident that this initiative will set a standard for future investments in Nigeria’s media landscape and contribute to our broader economic goals”. He said.
The Speaker remarked that the House of Representatives is highly encouraged by these innovative initiatives, as they align with Nigeria’s national goals for economic growth and diversification.
“It is important to state that Luft PayTV’s vision for expanding media access, creating jobs, and boosting Nigeria’s digital economy resonates with the goals of the 10th Assembly contained in our Legislative Agenda (2023–2027), particularly Agenda 4, which prioritises Economic Growth and Development”.Mr Abbas said.
He extended his congratulations to Luft PayTV Holding, its leadership, and all partners involved in the initiative, expressing his hopes that the launch signals the start of a successful and prosperous journey for Luft PayTV.
