The Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria (MMWG) has commended the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for its outstanding performance among the existing Federal Parastatals in the Country.

Reflecting on the JAMB vis-à-vis its mandate and performance on registration and examination of candidates for Federal university admissions in Nigeria, as well as the release of results, the Group said, the Nation has found outstanding leadership for the Examination Body that has turned around the quality of admission for qualitative education in Nigeria.

In a press statement issued in Ilorin – the Kwara State Capital, and jointly signed by the National Coordinator of the Group, Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim, and the National Secretary, the Group, Dr. Nasir Balogun, described the JAMB Registrar, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, as an outstanding public functionary who pioneered Computer-Based Test in university admissions in Nigeria, improved significantly the integrity of examinations being conducted by the Examination Body, and pioneered public accountability in the revenue generation process of the Board.

The Group therefore called on other Federal and State Establishments across the Country to emulate the financial and public accountability of this outstanding professor, who has won several awards nationally and internationally for his honesty, probity, integrity, hard work and dedication to duty.

It recalled the criticism from some quarters that trailed the introduction of Computer-Based Test (CBT) on the assumption of office Professor Oloyede over 6 years ago, and stated that with such a visionary reform in the Nigerian examination process, Nigeria is now better for it as digitisation now ruled the world.

The Group advised that for quality performance in office, Nigerians must shun partsanship of any kind when credible Bodies like JAMB stands on any point based on credible evidence, analyses and report;  adding that the ugly event of Mmesoma Joy Ejikeme falsification of result that occured last year ‘must never rear its ugly head again’  – pointing out that it was regrettable that some misguided elements in the Country were politicising and ethnicising the matter to confuse issues.

Nigerians must learn to stand on truth and strive hard for integrity at all times for the Nation to progress, the Group added.
