Stakeholders at the 30th edition of the Nigeria Media Merit Award, NMMA, have called on media practitioners to continue to improve and remain professional in their chosen career.

The Former Director General of Voice of Nigeria, VON, Abubakar Jijiwa said the NMMA award is a call for all media professionals to continue to strive for the best hence the need for training and retraining of the media practitioners.

”So many stations now coming up, there is need for training and retraining of the workers. Event like this encourages people to strive for the best. When you have a lot of people striving for the best, it’s good for the industry,” he said.

Mr. Jijiwa also urged Nigerians to look out for the leaders that will reset the country for good during the 2023 general elections.

”Next year is going to be an election year and I hope that it will help to improve some things in Nigeria. Let’s look out and vote for leaders who will reset the country for good,” he reiterated.

On his part, a Broadcast Journalist, Bisi Olatilo re-emphasized on the need to project the country in good light urging the media to speak less of the problems and rather seek for solutions.

“We’re the ones the whole world looks up to and it’s a big responsibility on our shoulders. I would like to ask our colleagues to talk less of the problems and rather seek for solutions.” He said.

The Channels Television’s Controller of Programmes, Mr Ambrose Okoh, whose station won the Television Station of the Year prize for a record 15th time thanked the organisers and Lagos State government for hosting the event.
