Media, Theatre and Arts workers move to reposition union

The newly elected cabinet of Voice  of Nigeria, Lagos Chapel of Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU), has swung into action by setting up a 7 -man committee toward repositioning the Union for efficiency.

To achieve the set goals, the Chairman, Mr Ibrahim Mustapha pledged to partner with labour-friendly organisations, stressing that VON RATTAWU will operate an open-door policy that is aimed at actualising the core values of the Union.

He said  plans are underway to work closely with the state and national body to correct the anomalies inherent in the current  pension scheme of staff members in Voice of Nigeria.

 

Mustapha said his administration will also prioritise innovation, creativity and inclusivity with a view to tackling internal and external challenges  and protect the interest of members

 

Mustapha of the News Directorate had emerged the new Chairman of RATTAWU, VON Lagos, Chapter after defeating Mr Orenuga Yaquob Olalekan of Digital Media Department,   in an in-house election held at VON Broadcasting House, Ikoyii Lagos.

 

At the occasion, Chairman of RATTAWU, Lagos State Council, Ishola Ismail Adejumo who supervised the election, described the process as transparent and credible even as he charged the new executive members to live up to expectation.

 

Leadership is a trust, hence, the new executive council members need to reflect on the mandate reposed in them by members; and work hard to move the union to greater heights” he advised.

 

Members of the new cabinet include: Lawal Taofeeq: Vice Chairman, Mahmood Hassan: Secretary, Akinyemi Sunday: Financial Secretary, Emmanuel Kolade: Auditor, Olatunji Otunuga: Treasurer, Public Relations Officer: Okunade Adewale and Adesaogun Adeshina: Assistant Secretary.
