The Ngbolizhia Medical Laboratory Scientists Association in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State has vowed to end Quackery in the profession.
The Association disclosed this during their Visit to Scientist Eze Paul who is member of the Association before he was appointed the Special Assistant to the Governor of the State, Mr Francis Nwifuru, in Abakaliki the State Capital.
The Special Assistant, Scientist Paul Eze, While addressing the Group in his office, Cabinet office Abakaliki started by thanking the Governor of the State who deemed it necessary to appointment three medical Laboratory experts into his Government.
Eze said “the Governor has graciously appointed Sct. Oguzor Nwali as Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Martin Okwuegbu for Internally Generated Revenue and my humble self, Sct. Paul Eze SA on Youth Mobilisation to serve in his Government”.
“By doing this, the Governor has shown us that he wants Professionals in his Government and we are going to ensure that we reciprocate the good gesture by curbing the rate of Quackery in the profession”. Eze added.
“I know very well that no Medical Laboratory Scientists will not wake up one day to open a hospital. I urge all the people who don’t have license to practice as Laboratory Scientist who have already opened such facilities for public use to close such facilities particularly in Ohaukwu Local Government Area where I have noticed Quacks practicing the profession in the area, as law will soon catch up with them”,he warned.
He noted that a lot of Laboratories are owned by none licensed Quacks and this menace has to end.
On his part, the Chairman of the Association, Scientist Kelvin Elom appreciated the Governor of the State for appointing three of their own as Special Assistants, Commissioner.
He promised that the Association will continue to support the Government by making sure that Ebonyi people enjoy quality health care.
