Nigerian men, particularly from the northern extraction have been urged to support their wives and encourage them to achieve their goals.
A former Director General of the Nigeria Agriculture Research Institute, Prof Baba Yusuf Abubakar, said this at the Launch of the Northern Hibiscus 2.0 hub that took place in Abuja.

He said Nigerian women are blessed with different hidden potentials requiring nurturing. He also noted that when women are empowered, the family and the nation at large benefit from it, Prof. Abubakar who is the spouse of the Founder, Northern Hibiscus (NH) Aisha Falke and chairman of the Launch, said that the hub has empowered Northern women and youth nationwide.

Globally, women are supported and encouraged, because a lot of them are talented but usually they are not given the opportunity for their best to come out. I feel that when women are empowered, they support the family. Even if the man is the breadwinner, he’ll be supported by the woman. There are issues of mental health that depress women when they are not doing anything but when they are engaged and doing something productive, they get excited. And even the husbands are happier when they have women that are doing something and helping the family generally”. He commended the operator for the foresight and initiative.

On her part, the Founder, of Northern Hibiscus (NH) Mrs Aisha Falke said that Northern Hibiscus which began as a little social media page has grown in leaps and bounds. She said that the platform had  pioneering economic transformation and digital revolution in Northern Nigeria
” We are pleased to tell you that what began as a humble blog eight years ago, to highlight the rich history of Hausa-speaking Nigerians, has grown into a thriving community that is now spearheading economic transformation in northern Nigeria. The new Northern Hibiscus (NH2.0) is an innovative platform created to empower individuals in this community globally, particularly women and youth”. Ms Falke said.
