Messi wins best player award at 2022 FIFA world cup

Lionel Messi has been crowned best Player of the Tournament after leading Argentina to the 2022 FIFA World Cup triumph.

The Argentina star netted a brace as the South Americans defeated France on penalties to win their third World Cup.

Messi finished the tournament with seven goals and was only beaten to the golden boot by Paris Saint Germain teammate Kylian Mbappe. He became the only player to win the golden ball at two World Cups.

Emiliano Martinez from Argentina collected the adidas Golden Glove while England took the FIFA Fair Play Trophy.

The FIFA Young Player Award goes to Enzo Fernandez from Argentina.
