Former Colombian midfielder Carlos Valderama says Lionel Messi’s move to the United States has revived his game.
Messi joined Major League Soccer (MLS) Inter Miami in July and has won two trophies already.
He has also scored 11 goals 7 games – snapping a losing streak that stretched to 11 games.
“Eight months have passed since the final in Qatar and Messi is playing even better. He is going to play the World Cup in the United States and he is going to arrive very well,” Valderama told La Nacion.
“He won what he wanted and that weight was removed, but he does not lose the desire. I always believed that football was going to reward him.
“What is missing? Nothing! What Messi has done for football, football has returned with a prize because he deserved it.
The 36-year old Agerntine Captain made his MLS debut on Saturday, leading Inter to a 2-0 win over New York Red Bulls.
They have now moved from 15th to 14th position.
