Meta: Business Chats on Instagram to Lose Privacy

According to Meta, business conversations on Instagram won’t be as private.

Meta and the companies involved may receive information from these exchanges for marketing and ad-targeting purposes.

After Messenger introduced similar tags in August of last year, Meta has started introducing business chat labels on Instagram.

A new feature is being added to give users more transparency about their interactions with businesses on the platform.

While end-to-end encryption is being implemented for personal chats on Messenger, the company clarified that business chats on the platform will not have the same level of privacy.

Information from these interactions may be shared with Meta and the businesses involved for purposes like ad targeting and marketing.

A new shortcut called “Business chats and Your privacy” will also be available, giving users more information on how business conversations are handled on Instagram business chat

To make sure users are aware of the privacy consequences of these interactions, the platform said that the new labels are now being applied to all direct message exchanges involving businesses.
