Meta Platforms stated that it aims to ensure “young people have safe and age-appropriate experiences on our apps,” highlighting its decade-long effort to develop over 50 tools, resources, and features to support teens and their guardians.

The company, which owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, also mentioned its upcoming “Teen Account” feature on Instagram, set to launch soon in Brazil, which will automatically restrict the accounts teenagers can view and who can contact them.

In response to the case, TikTok noted it had not received any notifications, while Kwai, a short video-focused social media platform, emphasized that user safety, particularly for minors, is one of its top priorities.

Currently, Meta relies on Google and Bing to provide users with answers related to news, stocks, and sports.

Meanwhile, Google is actively integrating its latest AI model, Gemini, into its core products like Search to enhance conversational and intuitive user experiences. OpenAI, on the other hand, depends on Microsoft, its largest investor, for web access to address current queries via the Bing search engine.

However, the practice of scraping web data for AI model training and search engines has sparked concerns regarding copyright violations and fair compensation for content creators.

Last week, Meta announced that its AI chatbot would utilise Reuters content to provide real-time answers about news and current events.
