Meta to Launch Paid Subscription Service for AI Chatbot
Meta Platforms is set to introduce a paid subscription service for its AI chatbot, Meta AI, with testing slated to begin in the second quarter of this year.
This move aims to enhance Meta’s AI offerings and position the company competitively against advanced chatbot versions from OpenAI and Microsoft.
While immediate revenue from the subscription is not anticipated, this initiative aligns with CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s strategy to bolster Meta’s AI infrastructure.

Launched in September 2023, Meta AI utilises large language models to perform various reasoning tasks.
In addition to the subscription service, Meta plans to develop AI-powered humanoid robots through a new division within its Reality Labs unit and introduce a standalone Meta AI app alongside Facebook and Instagram in the second quarter. Major tech firms like Microsoft and Amazon are similarly investing heavily in AI development, with projected spending reaching tens of billions of dollars.
