MFM fans commended for sportsmanship despite league defeat
Fans of Mountain of Fire and Miracles (MFM) FC have been commended for showing sportsmanship despite losing their opening league match.
The Lagos side were whipped 2-0 by Western neighbours Remo Stars at the Mobolaji Johnson stadium Friday night.
Despite the poor season start, home fans commended the visiting team and did not attack them.
Chairman, League Management Company (LMC), Shehu Dikko, said the conduct of the fans was worth emulating as ‘winning at home by all means’ was detrimental to the development of the game in Nigeria.

He said such spirit would help build sportsmanship across the league – a common feature in more advanced climes.
“The fans should continue with what they want to do for their teams, we want to see them supporting their clubs in the right way. Others should emulate the fans of MFM FC, they lost their game at home, but they still kept their cool, no violence or crowd troubles,” he said.
“This is how football should be played, anybody who claims to love NPFL and want it sustained should allow the spirit of sportsmanship to prevail.”
More matches will be played Saturday and Sunday.
