Minister Appeals for Patience with President Tinubu’s Administration

The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has appealed to Nigerians to exercise more patience and trust in the President Bola Tinubu’s administration, asserting that the current temporary pain will soon turn to gains.

Adelabu said with trust and confidence in the government, the phase Nigeria is passing through presently would be a phase of transformation and reform, which will come with some little pains.

The minister made the appeal, on Wednesday, shortly after observing the Eid-al-Fitr prayers at the W.O. Lawal Eid Prayer Ground, Iyana Adeoyo, Ring Road, Ibadan, Oyo State.

He charged the people to see the ongoing transformation as a journey and not a destination, expressing confidence that the country is gradually getting close to where all desire and lives of all Nigerians will be changed for the better.

He said: “Nigerians should please be patient with this government, let us endure the pain which I believe will be temporal and very soon we will start enjoying the gain of all these transformation. It is not easy to rebuild. The damage didn’t happen in a day, so the rebuilding is a process.

“Let us see our transformation as a journey and not a destination. I am very confident and sure that gradually, we will be getting close to where we all desire and the lives of all Nigerians will be changed for the better,” Adelabu affirmed.

The minister disclosed that the government is embarking on a lot of infrastructural projects that will bring succor to Nigerians and remove all the pains that they have been experiencing, noting that it is doing all within its powers to address the root cause of the problems facing the country, especially in the power sector.

He stated: “Included in this infrastructure is power which I oversee the ministry. I am assuring Nigerians that we are committed to making things happen at the power sector.  

“The problem is over 50 years, so we are doing everything possible to fix everything that has been damaged in the sector, including all the infrastructural deficits that we have across the segments in the power sector value chain,” the minister revealed.

Adelabu promised that the government will resolve the issue in generation, transmission and distribution, which he admitted will take time, but expressed the belief that the country will soon get it better.

He stated: “We have seen the exchange rate that went up to as high as N1,900/N2,000 per dollar, but today dollar is less than N1,200. So this is the kind of relief that is awaiting all Nigerians and we will all live to enjoy all the benefits of this transformation process.  

“We should trust and have confidence in the administration of President Bola Tinubu and his cabinet, you voted us in, based on trust and confidence. Let us maintain the trust, let us maintain the confidence and all our expectations will be met,” Adelabu affirmed.

The minister further congratulated every Nigerian, encouraging them to rejoice ahead of the gains that is coming from all the transformation activities the government is embarking on.
