The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, has pledged to work closely with the newly elected chairmen of the six Area Councils in the Federal Capital Territory.
Wike stressed that collaboration across party lines is key to delivering development to residents.
Wike gave the assurance while receiving the chairmen-elect who visited him to present their certificates of return following their victory in the recent council elections.
While congratulating the newly elected Chairmen, the minister said their success reflected the trust reposed in them by the electorate and urged them to justify the mandate through effective governance.

“On behalf of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, I congratulate the newly elected chairmen. By the grace of God, you worked hard and emerged victorious, and we thank God for the opportunity given to you to serve your people,” he said.

The minister emphasized that political affiliation should not hinder cooperation in the interest of development.
“No matter the party you belong to, what is important is that we work together. Since I assumed office as minister, we have maintained cooperation in the FCT, and that is why we have continued to achieve results,” Wike stated.

He noted that the chairmen who supported the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the elections demonstrated commitment to the government’s agenda and would continue to enjoy support.
According to him, the FCT Administration is ready to partner with the incoming council leaders to improve governance and accelerate development across the territory.

Wike urged the chairmen-elect to prepare for the task ahead, noting that the expectations of residents would be high once they are sworn into office.
The newly elected Chairmen are, Christopher Maikalangu – AMAC, incumbent, Joshua Ishiaku -Bwari, Abubakar Umar – Abaji, also incumbent, Danladi Samuel – Kuje, Nuhu Kwali – Kwali and Kasim Mohammed – Gwagwalada Area Council.
