Nigeria’s Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has been commended for her display of sterling leadership, which led to Nigeria’s successful outing at the recently concluded 69th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69).
A congratulatory message, presented by Ruth Zikachat Kaburuk Badung, commended Sulaiman-Ibrahim for outstanding leadership and dedication to advancing women’s empowerment and gender equality, which was instrumental in shaping the discussions, outcomes and Nigeria’s position at the event.
The message noted the minister’s strategic seminal contributions and efforts in promoting women’s rights, addressing challenges, and fostering partnerships, which significantly boosted Nigeria’s success at CSW69.

Some notable highlights from CSW69 focused on “Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls” and the review of progress made on the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.
The key outcomes include the Commission’s adoption of agreed conclusions, outlining actions to accelerate progress on gender equality, which has been adapted into a six-point national action plan.
The six-point national action plan adaptation covers digital revolution via #THEHAPPYWOMANSAPP, freedom from poverty, zero violence, equal power, peace and security and climate justice.
