The Nigerian Minister of Power, Adelabu Adebayo, has promised to ensure power sector improvement as he resumed duty.
In a brief meeting with the Directors in the Ministry, Heads of Agencies and parastatals under Ministry of Power, Staff of the Ministry, the Press and host of other dignitaries that accompanied the Minister, Mr. Adelabu expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the President for entrusting him with the opportunity to serve the country in this capacity.
Speaking at the reception held for the newly appointed Minister, Mr Adebayo expressed his commitment to achieve success in Nigeria’s Power sector, saying that his vision is rooted in leveraging the Nigerian Electricity Act of 2023.
According to him, the new act also encourages collaboration between Public and Private sector, adding that provision of electricity is no longer the exclusive responsibility of the Federal Government of Nigeria.
The Minister promised to work with all stakeholders in the Power sector to see that they diligently provide optimal solutions for Nigeria’s power needs.
He stressed that the power sector was critical to turn around the economy in line with Mr President’s promises saying that attention will also be given to renewable and alternative energy sources to fastrack access in rural areas.
The welcome address by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Power, Mr Temitope Fashedemi, on behalf of the entire Ministry staff, resonated their optimism for the new appointment.
He accentuated the Ministry’s preparedness for a phase of profound growth and progress, underscored by the capable leadership of Mr Adelabu Adebayo.
Mr Fashedemi acknowledged the Ministry’s dedicated team and reaffirmed their steadfast commitment to closely collaborate with the Minister.
The Permanent Secretary, handed over the mantle of leadership of the Ministry to the Minister after the swearing in ceremony at the State House conference centre in Abuja by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR).
