Minister pledges innovation to Boost Economy

The Minister of Innovation Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, has said that the Ministry is committed to the commercialization of research products, which is necessary for the socioeconomic growth of Nigeria.

The Minister said this when the Chief Executive Officer of Motor Vehicle Company EMVC, Prince Mustapha Mona Audu, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.

In a statement by the Deputy Director of Press & Public Relations of the Ministry, Atuora Obed, the Minister noted that the Electronic Motor Vehicle Company (EMVC) is an indigenous company that uses solar energy for automatic recharge.

He added that the Innovation Science and Technology Ministry remains in charge of supervising new inventions such as solar energy and automobiles in the country.

The minister promised to partner with the company and to give it all the necessary support for the benefit of Nigerians.

The Permanent Secretary, Mrs Esuabana Nko-Asanye, said that the electric motor is a great innovation capable of revolutionising the automobile industry for sustainable economic growth and job creation.

She stressed that by 2030, the country will not have any reports of repairing vehicles using fossil energy in the world and will inevitably join electronic vehicle innovation, which is the main function of the Ministry.

She stated that, as the giant of Africa, Nigeria is at the vanguard of developing technology vital to the benefit of her populace.

The Chief Executive Officer of Electric Motor Vehicle Company (EMVC), Mustapha Mona Audu, informed the  Minister that the purpose of their visit is to seek support and partnership with the Ministry in the electronic automobile sector as well as to alleviate the transport challenge being presently experienced in the country.

According to Mona, Nigeria has the potential to lead Africa in automobile mobility if she can focus diligently on the area of technology and enjoin Nigerians to ‘’go electric green and bid goodbye to fossil fuels’’ in the country.

He presented and showcased their automobile vehicles to the Minister and sought support and partnership to provide mobility to Nigeria to ease the socio-economic condition of the people.
