Nigeria’s Information and Culture Minister, Lai Mohammed has called out an online publication, Premium Times over what he termed a mischievous story about the electronic transmission of results during the just concluded 2023 presidential election result.
On Tuesday in Washington DC the Minister described the publication by Premium Times as the height of irresponsible and reckless journalism.
He said one of the major problems in the polity is exactly a section of the media, some of whom are compromised with hidden agendas.
According to the Minister, his statement was taken out of context just to embarrass his submission.
The Premium Times publication suggested that the Minister contradicted what the INEC said about the IREV and the issues encountered.
Meanwhile, the Minister’s position was that the moment the INEC discovered some technical glitches and suspected some issues of cyber attack, it suspended the result on the date of the Presidential election to protect the sanctity and integrity of the data.
