Nigeria’s Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, has urged Nigerian youth to prioritize actionable steps over extended discussions to ensure they take their rightful place in governance and contribute meaningfully to national development.

Comrade Olawande stated this during a courtesy visit by representatives of various youth organizations, including the Northern Youth Leaders Forum, Progressive Young Women Forum, United Nations Food System Youth Cohort, UNIMI Foundation, and National Honours Award Winners, led by their presidents, in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

In his address, the Minister emphasized:

“Your cooperation is crucial in ensuring that the efforts of this administration positively impact the youth of this country. The era of talking without action is over. My office remains open to your contributions as we collectively work to take Nigerian youth to the next level.”

He reminded the youth leaders that while not everyone can hold public office, those appointed should be fully supported to succeed, rather than being subjected to unnecessary criticism.

Speaking on behalf of the youth organizations, the President of the Northern Youth Leaders Forum, Comrade Muritala Garba, pledged the commitment of youth groups to working with the Minister, describing him as a youthful and approachable leader.

“During the campaign against bad governance, we made significant efforts to bridge the gaps between the government and the youth. We remain committed to fostering engagement and communication to continue this effort,” Muritala affirmed.

The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, Mr. Olubunmi Olusanya, also addressed the gathering. He highlighted the importance of collaboration between youth bodies and the government, assuring them that the Ministry would work within its available resources to meet the expectations of Nigerian youths.
