Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has charged Nigerian youths to stay away from drug abuse and channel their energy into achieving their life goals.

Speaking at a thanksgiving service to mark his 71st birthday in Iragbiji, Osun State, Oyetola warned that dependence on narcotics destroys ambitions, strips young people of dignity, and often leads to psychological and mental health challenges.

He urged “the youth to embrace hard work, focus, and dedication, stressing that those values, alongside faith in God, had been the foundation of his own success.”

Oyetola encouraged young people to contribute their creativity and energy to national development, rather than engaging in thuggery and other antisocial behaviours.

He concluded his remarks by calling for support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2026 Osun Governorship Election, expressing optimism that the party would reclaim victory.
