The ministerial and steering committee on a book to be titled “Nigeria Sports Book of Record 1884-2015’’ paid a courtesy call on the Director General of Voice of Nigeria Mr. Osita Okechukwu at his office on Tuesday 28th June.
Explaining the initiative behind the book, leader of the team, Dr. Olusegun Akinlotan who is also a Deputy Director at the Nigerian Institute of Sports said:
“The book is meant to celebrate Nigeria’s sports heroes and Heroines both death and alive, to document what has taken place in the past so that generation unborn will know about it because it is an important piece of Nigeria’s history it will be subjected to periodic editing and it will be launched before the departure of team Nigeria to the Rio Olympic Games”.
In his address, the Director General of Voice of Nigeria pledged his support to the initiative and promised to use Voice of Nigeria to propagate the book to its external audience.
He applauded the thought behind the book and added that Voice of Nigeria will make sure the world hears about it.
“Voice of Nigeria’s mandate is simple; to propagate the country externally and we give so much publicity to sports. What we have is what we are going to offer, we are going to tell the world that there is an organization like this. On behalf of the management of voice of Nigeria, we give you our full support.” said the DG.
The book is due to be launched ahead of the departure of “Team Nigeria” to the 2018 Olympic games in Rio de Janiero, Brazil.
