Ministers Assume Office, Begin Duties

Nigeria’s Minister of Innovation Science and Technology has assumed office following his Inauguration on Monday.

The Minister who was received by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry and head of the Ministry’s agencies and parastatals called on the management staff to rededicate themselves to service for the progress of Nigeria.

He said: I am sure with your cooperation, we can go far.”

While welcoming the Minister, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr James Sule, also stated that the handover will take place on Tuesday, the 21st.

Meanwhile, the newly inaugurated Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has emphasized professionalism as he resumed duty on Monday.

Senator David Umahi, while being received in the office by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry and other members of Staff solicited teamwork to bring about the desired change in the work sector.

The minister disclosed that under his leadership, there will be a change from the existing style to innovations and the use of local content.

Underscoring the need for transparency, accountability and effective implementation of policy that will enhance the well-being and expectations of Nigerians.

“I am not an office person, I am a field person which means, we are going to make changes, we are starting inspection tours to inspect ongoing projects and to know the ones to come up with.

” I will be inspecting the Lokoja Abuja road, we’re going to make changes. 

 “I challenge my fellow engineers on the issue of concrete technology even amid forex challenge and petroleum crises, the nation is endowed with natural resources so we should be prepared for the renewed hope of the present government anchored on change,” he said.

He further stated that he will be briefed by every Departmental Head in the presence of all the staff so that all the staff will know what is on board.

To this end, he charged the staff of the Ministry to put in their best and be part of history, he thanked everyone for making out time to welcome him and promised to be there for everyone.

Also, the Minister of Niger Delta Development, Abubakar Momoh has said he will actively work to improve peace and security in the Niger Delta region.

The Minister said these during the welcome ceremony held on Monday, August 21, 2023, in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

He emphasized his dedication to enhancing staff welfare and maintaining a proactive approach to achieving set objectives.

“I want to guarantee our collaborative effort with relevant stakeholders and government bodies to realize Mr President’s vision, particularly the East-West road project, which holds crucial significance in the region’s development,” he said.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Niger Delta Development, Mr Shuiab Belgore, in his welcome address pledged unwavering loyalty and dedication among the staff to execute the Ministry’s mandate.
