The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Senator Abubakar Kyari and the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Sabi Abdullahi, have assumed office to take charge of the affairs of the ministry.
Both Ministers accompanied by Family, Governor of Borno state, Party fateful and friends on Monday.
They were received by the Permanent Secretary Dr. Ernest Umakhihe, Directors, staff of the ministry and heads of agencies and parastatals under the Ministry.
The permanent Secretary of the Ministry Dr. Umakhihe while welcoming both Ministers said their wealth of experience would be of great benefit to the Agriculture sector in the- country.
“Our distinguished Senators, who are now Honourable Ministers, it’s apleasure to have you on board having them to run to this ministry for the next four years is a plus for us, they have come with their wealth of experience to add value to this ministry.”
First to speak was the Minister of State, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, he said they were ready to work with Mr. President’s plan to ensure Nigeria attains food security.
Mr. Abubakar Kyari, in his first address as the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, said he was ready and willing to commit to the service of Nigeria.
Highlighting some of the challenges facing the sector, Kyari said what the country needs is the Government’s willpower, which President Tinubu has displayed.
“It’s a long to Where I’m seated here, all I can say is I’m ready and I’m willing to commit 100% to the service of this nation”
According to him “We all know the challenges but for me and I think my colleague here and even the state Governor, the biggest hope we have is the political will driven by President Bola Tinubu and I also see that hope, that commitment in him when he declared emergency on food security in the country.”

“I think we have a big challenge but it is not unsurmountable, our target is not only to secure and feed the country but also to export food, of which we have that potential” He added.
The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Sen. Abubakar Kyari CON was born on the 15th of January 1963 in Borno State. He was educated in both Nigeria and the United States of America.
He started his political career when he was elected to the House of Representatives under the UNCP party in 1998.
He was the former acting national chairman of the ruling Party, the All Progressives Congress.
While the Minister of State, Sen. Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi CON was born on 10 January 1967 in Niger State. He was the Senator representing Niger North Senatorial District at the 8th and 9th National Assembly, where he was the deputy chief whip.
