Ministry begins monitoring of Youths Skills Project in Anambra State

Anambra State Ministry of Youth Development has commenced monitoring and evaluation of the ongoing “one Youth two skills project” in the 21 Local Government Areas LGAs of the state.

The “One Youth Two Skills Project” was flagged off two months ago by the State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.

The Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Agha-Mba who led some management staff of the ministry and volunteers to various training centres disclosed that the youth empowerment programme would provide 130,000 jobs annually, for the Youths of the state in line with the governor’s vision.

He maintained that the project would solve the unemployment problems sustainably facing the youths adding that the unemployed youths would have the opportunity to be engaged meaningfully.

Mr Agha-Mba expressed satisfaction with the ongoing project and commended the master trainers for their dedication to the programme and advised the trainees to utilise the opportunity offered by the state government to engage themselves and become productive.

The inspection team visited about 50 training centres in Awka South Local Government Areas LGAs, one of which was Jassy Coaching Services at Orpet filling station, Agu Awka, where trainees were seen learning leather works and shoe making.

The master trainer, Mr. Okechukwu Okezie testified that the trainees were learning very fast adding that they have advanced tremendously just within four weeks of their stay.

Another master trainer and founder of Ama signature fashion, Mrs. Amaka Okigwe eulogised the state government for the programme pointing out that its impact on the Youths would be rewarding.

At Jassy Coaching Service a trainee, expressed happiness with the way the ministry handled the project adding that he has been inspired immensely by the skills acquired.
