Ministry To Train 300 Women And Youth In Anambra State

Anambra State Ministry of Women and Social Welfare is collaborating with the African Women Entrepreneurship Program Nigeria, AWEP, to train 300 women and youths in the state.

The women affairs commissioner, Honourable Ify Obinabo, interfaced with representatives of the group  in her office in Awka, the state capital.

The team led by the Project Lead AWEP Act Power Project, Amede Achingale, noted that the purpose of the collaboration is to train the women and youths to be independent and gainfully engaged in agriculture as a business, digital social media marketing, animal husbandry among others.

Mrs Achingale who also stated that the program covers southeast and southsouth geopolitical Zones affirmed that they would adopt the train the trainers model in all the local government areas of the state in order to benefit a large number of women and youths.

In her response, the women and social welfare boss, Honourable Obinabo appreciated the team for their timely visit and assured them of the state’s readiness in ensuring that the project was a success.

Honourable Obinabo went further to inform them that she would ensure that the vulnerable women and youths who really need the training are the main beneficiaries even as she assured them of the Governor’s regards and best wishes.

The training which will begin in earnest will last for two days with trainees drawn from the 179 communities in the state.

Others members of the team present during the event were the Vice president South East AWEP who is also the project coordinator, Engineer Stella Eneh, the AWEP South East Project Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Nneoma Ekwenibe and Uzoamaka Chidobelu AWEP South East.
