MNJTF marks International Women’s Day with Female Staff

In a show of solidarity and recognition, the Force Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Major General Ibrahim Ali, joined his female staff members at Camp 27 in N’Djamena, Chad, as the world commemorated International Women’s Day.

General Ali highlighted the significance of this year’s theme, “Invest in women to accelerate progress,” underscoring the importance of investing in women’s education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and leadership development to accelerate progress towards gender equality.

In a statement by the Chief of Military Public Information, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, General Ali emphasized that empowering women not only enhances their prospects but also fosters positive societal and economic change across communities and countries.

While reaffirming the MNJTF’s dedication to women’s rights, General Ali conveyed the Task Force’s ongoing commitment to protecting women and girls from terrorism and other criminal threats, as well as safeguarding their safety and welfare.

Christiana Idem, the Gender Focal Officer of the African Union Mission Support Team for the MNJTF, commended the Task Force for its recognition of women’s pivotal role in its operations. She reiterated the commitment of female personnel to support the MNJTF in fulfilling its mandate.
