
Super Eagles forward Moses Simon won the Coupe de France title with Nantes after a 1-0 victory against Nice in the final at the Stade de France.
Nantes started a front-two of Simon and Randal Kolo Muani, while Nice featured Andy Delort and Kasper Dilbery in attack. After a first half of missed chances, the game sprung into life early in the second half.
After a handball incident in the box, the referee awarded a penalty to Nantes in the second half. Algerian International Hicham Boudaoui saw Quentin Merlin’s first-time cross strike him on the arm and Ludovic Blas stepped up for the spot kick.

Blas was the hero as his 47th minute penalty gave Nantes the lead, beating goalkeeper Marcin Bulka. The goal sent Nantes’ supporters into a frenzy as hopes of winning a trophy went higher.
After chances from both sides, the scoreline remained 1-0 as Nantes held on to secure the victory. Nantes will also return to Europe as they will play in the Europa League next season. Blas’ goal also ended Nantes’ 21-year trophy drought.
