As the world marks Mothers’ Day, Nigerians have been urged to celebrate mothers among them because they add colour to the lives of every individual in the society.

The wife of Nigeria’s Vice President, Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo made the call on Sunday at the Aso Villa Chapel, located within the state House, Abuja, in commemoration of this year’s mothers’ day.

Mrs Osinbajo said mothers must be honoured because through them God gives life and multiplies the society.

Unique Service

The 2016 Mothering Sunday was unique, Nigeria’s Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo attended with his wife, Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo, with women presiding over all segments of the service.

In her remark, Mrs Osinbajo said women are unique specie of people that show great strength in all their activities.

“Mothers show great strength because they carry pregnancy for nine months, without dropping it once, after putting to bed, she then carries and train the child for many years, till he/she reaches adulthood. I salute the strength of mothers,” she said.

She therefore called on all Nigerians to celebrate them, because they put smiles on the faces of people, after giving birth to them.

“I thank God for the joy of mothers. They bring smiles, hope, warmth and love. They embrace and love us in so many ways. They add colour and beautify us. It’s a wonderful day today to celebrate mothers. It’s a very great idea indeed to have special day for them,” Mrs Osinbajo stated.

The wife of the Vice President however lamented that mothers are on the verge of extinction, because of vices like rape and kidnapping, attitudes that she frowned at.

PIC 8Delivering the sermon, Dr Becky Enenche, who took her text from Genesis 26:21-23, described mothers as the greatest gift to humanity.

She said mothers should be celebrated because God has deposited some special abilities in them.

“God has blessed humanity with the gift of mothers. A mother is an irreplaceable asset in the life of every individual. Therefore, we have to celebrate mothers on this special day set aside for them,” she said.

Dr Enenche urged all ages of children to respect their parents and do good t them all the times, in appreciation of their sacrifices they made in producing and nurturing the children.

The Mothers Service also featured songs From Children, the women and popular Nigerian Artiste, Lara George.

Gifts were also presented to the Wife of President Mohammadu Buhari, wife of the Vice President and all mothers that were present.
