Mozambique set to host Beach Soccer AFCON
Everything is going in the best way for the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to run smoothly a few days before the final draw set to take place on Friday, 16 September 2022 in Maputo, Mozambique.
Engineers, construction technicians, hotel and transport staff are working hard so that AFCON, the first to be held in Mozambican territory, will be a success.
The work began since April 8, and much of the attention of the government, businessmen and sports agents is now focused on the progress, with particular focus on the construction of Vilanculos Arena, with capacity for 1200 spectators, where the players will demonstrate their talent.
A delegation from CAF is currently in the city of Vilanculos to assess the progress in the construction of the Vilanculos Arena.
It will be the last visit that the multidisciplinary group of inspectors will pay at the venue before the tournament kick-offs.
On site, the delegation will check the quality of the soil of the main arena, the training fields, visit the changing rooms and other areas considered essential for the competition to take place.
The inspectors will also make a final survey on logistics, visiting the hotels that will host the teams, referees, CAF officials, and also make a final “test” of the capacity of the transport system.
This will be the third visit of the “CAF” to Vilanculos, after having been in late May and June.
