MTN Nigeria has launched a digital service centre in Abuja, the nation’s capital, powered by 5G technology.

The Chief Customer and Experience Officer at MTN Nigeria, Ms Ogunwa Nwoye, spoke to journalists after the launch of the centre at MTN’s regional headquarters in Abuja.

Nwoye stated that this is the first digital service centre in the country. “Today we launched the first digital experience centre in Nigeria by any telecom firm. One of our goals was to bring a digital immersive experience as close as possible to our customers and businesses,” she explained.

She emphasised that the launch highlights how technology can improve lives: “We wanted to showcase what is possible with the technology we provide. As you know, MTN is a technology company that harnesses tech to enhance the lives of our customers and businesses around us. We believe Nigeria’s full potential can be reached through technology. That’s why we were the first to launch 3G, then 4G, and now 5G.”

Nwoye further explained that the centre is powered by 5G technology and has been designed with local relevance in mind. She also mentioned MTN’s previous achievement: “We built the first digital kiosk in Nigeria, enabling up to eight user journeys where customers can access our services independently, though staff assistance is available if needed.”

Regarding services offered at the centre, Nwoye noted that customers can buy SIM cards, airtime, data plans, and devices, including 5G routers, which can be delivered anywhere in Nigeria. She added that the centre also demonstrates smart home solutions, allowing users to control their homes remotely with a data connection.

“This isn’t just about data and devices; it’s about empowering people to live a breathtaking life. We want Nigerians to meet their full potential and unleash their creativity, as technology is the driving force behind their imagination,” Nwoye emphasised.

She concluded by saying, “What we’re doing today is enabling people to experience technology, sparking their creativity and empowering them to innovate. That’s the goal of the Digital Experience Centre.”
