The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria MSSN, Lagos State Area Unit has mourned the passing of the Chairman of the Executive Council of Lagos Central Mosque, Sheikh Abdul-Hafeez Abou.
In a statement signed by the President of MSSN Lagos, Kamoldeen Abiona, on Thursday, the student’s body expressed its deep condolences to Sheikh Abdul-Hafeez’s family, the Muslim community in Lagos and the Lagos State Government over the loss.
Abiona described Sheikh Abou’s life as a testament to unwavering faith, dedication to scholarship, and a profound commitment to serving Allah and humanity.
The statement reads, “Condolence Message on the Passing of Sheikh Abdul Hafeez Abou, Baba Adinni of Lagos.
Beacon of wisdom
“With heavy hearts, we extend our deepest condolences on the passing of our beloved Sheikh Abdul Hafeez Abou (OFR). Today, we mourn the loss of a towering figure, a beacon of wisdom, and a guiding light for the Muslim community.
“His contributions to Islamic education, leadership, and interfaith harmony have left an indelible mark on our hearts and minds.”
Abiona said the executives and members of MSSN Lagos join the entire Muslim community in grieving over the departure of the illustrious scholar and leader.
He stated, “Sheikh Abou’s teachings, mentorship, and exemplary life have been a source of inspiration for countless individuals, and his legacy will endure through the lives he touched.
Profound loss
“During this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with Sheikh Abou’s family, friends, and all those who were privileged to know him. May Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaus and shower His mercy upon his soul. May Allah also grant patience and strength to his family and loved ones to bear this profound loss.
“In honouring Sheikh AbdulHafeez Abou’s memory, let us strive to embody the values of humility, knowledge, and compassion that he so exemplarily lived throughout his life. May his legacy continue to inspire generations to come. Verily, we belong to Allah, and to Him, we shall return.”
Sheikh Abou (10th August 1922 – 9th January, 2024) is a distinguished Islamic Scholar from a noble lineage of Imams and religious devotees. He is a great asset to Muslims at local, national and international levels.
He was a patron of the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) in the 1960s and was turbaned as Baba Adinni of Lagos on August 14, 2009.
