Dr Olushola Ogunsanga, the Director-General of the National Centre for Technology Management (NACETEM), has reiterated the centre’s commitment to producing a skilled workforce that will excel and enhance the digital economy.

Ogunsanga stated this at the ongoing Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) Expo in Abuja.

According to him, the centre will provide Nigeria with an innovation school for both the public and private sectors of the economy.

“The centre has arrayed a growing and significant bouquet of self-paced international skills certification courses that would help digital Nigerians excel in a digital economy.

“The training and certification for new generation skippers, second engineers, mariners and boat builders are among the training opportunities being developed at the centre.

“Commercial opportunities are being married with social business strategies to create a skilled workforce that would exploit the huge potential of the marine and blue economy.

“Glass-fibre, aluminium and metal/ceramic alloy materials are being deployed in boat construction.

“The aim is to infuse the latest materials, science and engineering technologies into the enhancement and development of the marine economy,” Ogunsanga said.

Ogunsanga stated that the technology can digitise the indigenous Igbo apprenticeship scheme, and can also digitise the Lagos GSM village knowledge transfer models for massive job creation through the use of ICT.

Ogunsanga also called on relevant stakeholders to be part of the construction of a new Nigeria with skilled individuals relevant to the socio-economic needs of the country.

In his remarks, Mr Tor Shammar, Country Representative, Neuro-Linguistics Programme, said that NACETEM’s vision should be embraced for financial growth and advancement.

He expressed the programme’s readiness to embrace NACETEM for expansion, income generation, and self-reliance.
