NAHCON Acting Chairman Jalal Arabi Assumes Office

The Acting Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, Alhaji Jalal Arabi has officially assumed office in compliance with a Presidential directive.

The Acting Chairman expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead the Commission, acknowledging the trust placed in him by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He emphasised the significance of his role in the context of nation-building under the Tinubu-led government’s renewed hope agenda.

Alhaji Arabi assured the NAHCON staff of a cooperative and brotherly relationship while underlining the importance of trust, sacrifice, and faith.

He stressed his commitment to firm leadership and called on his team to join him in repositioning the Commission for the betterment of all.

Representing the former Chairman, Alhaji Zikrullah Hassan, Alhaji Nura Yakassai welcomed Alhaji Jalal Arabi.

Yakassai is a former Commissioner for Policy, Personnel Management, and Finance (PPMF),

He assured the new leadership that despite the critical timing of the leadership transition in the Hajj planning period, the Commission is well-equipped with capable staff to support his success.

Hailing from Gombe State, Mr. Jalal Ahmed Arabi was born on October 28, 1962, in Jos, Plateau state. His educational journey began at Islamiyya Primary School, Jos, leading to Government Secondary School Gombe in 1973.

After completing the College of Arts and Science in Bauchi in 1980, he pursued a Law degree at the University of Jos, earning his certification as a Barrister of Law in 1984.

Alhaji Arabi continued to expand his education and professional qualifications through various institutions, including the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, ASCON, University of Maryland, and many others, where he obtained expertise in areas such as negotiations, security policy, and leadership.

His professional career began in July 1985 as a State Counsel at the Ministry of Justice in Bauchi, Bauchi state. He held several positions, including Legal Adviser, Secretary, and Legal Officer in various government departments and ministries. Notably, he served as Permanent Secretary, at the State House, under the Muhammadu Buhari administration.

Alhaji Jalal Ahmad Arabi will serve as the Acting Chairman of NAHCON until January 17, 2023, replacing Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan.
