Nancy Isime, others win big at 2023 UNIMA Awards

At the just concluded third edition of the Universal Movie Awards (UNIMA) held in Lagos, Western Nigeria, Veteran Nigerian Actor, Nancy Isime’s Movie, Unforgivable won the ‘Best Supporting Actor Female’  Category.

 

 

Ace Nigerian Actor and Director,  Sam Dede’s Movie ‘Kamsi’ won in two categories; Best Film Edit and the Best Supporting Actor Male Category.
The yearly international award also has the Divorcees of Casablanca Morocco winning in four categories including Best Original Song, Best Screen Play,  Best Picture and Best Director categories.

 

Similarly, on the foreign scene, the movie ‘MICHAEL GAISMAYR’ Italy, won in seven categories including Best Production Design, Best Makeup and Costume, Best Visual Effects and Best Cinematography amongst other categories.

 

 

Speaking during the Awards, the  Founder and President of the yearly international award UNIMA, Hope Obioma Opara said that Nigerian film industry has recorded tremendous achievement and global recognitions amidst challenges, attributing the success to the unwavering efforts of the Nigerian Actors and film makers whose hard work has continued to put Nollywood on the front burner globally.

 

 

“Nigerian Actors are doing great.
Nigerian films can now be watched on the major online film platforms around the globe. It’s a great achievement.” He expressed.
Mr. Opara also called for adequate funding of the industry  especially with infrastructure and give support to those that have continued to boost the industry through Awards.
“Most producers are struggling all by themselves. It’s good to always patronize their work as a way to encourage them. Companies should also support the producers through advert placement of their films. Also give support to those that are behind the camera.” He reiterated.
According to Mr. Opara, the aim of UNIMA is to add value and creatively enrich the entertainment industry through excellent work in film and television.
Some of the Awards recipients thanked the organizer for appreciating their work and encouraging them to do more.

 

 

The event attracted movie Producers, Directors, Actors and other celebrities in the entertainment industry.
This year’s edition of UNIMA Awards was hosted by a Nollywood Actor, Sam Anyamele and Voice of Nigeria’s Journalist, Cynthia Okere.
