A female Aspirant in Nasarawa State contesting on the All Progressives Congress APC platform for Lafia/Obi Federal Constituency, Maryam Musa Muhammad, has promised to make a difference with good initiatives if elected in the coming APC primary elections.
Maryam Musa Muhammad stated this during a press briefing in Lafia, the state capital.
She solicited the delegate to support her ambition to boost the confidence of more women to take part in politics.
“Over the years, we lacked women’s participation in politics. We know women are good managers, as we can see in our homes, and if allowed to serve in governance, Nasarawa State and Nigeria will be a better place for all of us.
“Women’s participation in politics will also create a gender balance in governance because we know that men have taken over the politics of Nasarawa State.
“The State House of Assembly and the State Executive Council are occupied majorly by men except for a few women.
“I want to make a difference. With what is happening in our communities, I want to fight for women’s rights and girl-child education.
“I also want to include the youths and persons living with disabilities in my empowerment programmes.
“The men, women, and youths in my constituency are a hundred percent behind me. There is a lot to be done.
“We have schools without teachers, hospitals without drugs, and other social amenities are lacking in the constituency.
“So, I am appealing to the delegates who would vote during the primary election of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, to give me a chance, and I promise to ensure steady growth and development of our constituency,” she concluded.
