Nasarawa Assembly Investigative Committee Lauds Awe, Lafia LGAs On Palliative Distributions

Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Investigating Diversion of Palliatives has hailed the effective distribution of Palliatives in Lafia and Awe LGAs of the State.
The Committee has however invited the Special Adviser to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Media and Publicity, Dr Nawani Aboki, and Overseer Ekye Dev, Area Honourable Bello Akoza to appear before the committee on Tuesday, Oct.17, 2023, by 10 am at the Assembly Complex to explain their role in the distribution of palliative in Ekye Development Area.
Chairman of the Committee, Honourable Abel Bala, made this known when some local government Chairmen appeared before the committee in the assembly complex in Lafia, the state capital.
Honourable Abel said that the invitation extended to them was in the interest of fairness as well as the committee’s readiness to do a thorough job.
Also appearing before the committee was Ambassador Timothy Maikasuwa, Commissioner for Special Duties on Security and Public Matters, and Honourable Ja’afaru Ango, Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development explain their roles in the distribution of the palliative.
The Commissioner of Youth said he was not involved in the distribution exercise, claiming innocence.
Also appearing before the committee was the Commissioner from Wamba, Muazu Gosho the Commissioner of Works, who took his time explaining some of the challenges faced in the distribution of the palliatives in the area.
Roles in the distribution
Others who appeared before the committee was Commissioners and Chairmen from Nasarawa South Senatorial District where they explained their roles in the distribution of the palliatives.
Honourable Abel said that the committee called on them to know their involvements in the distribution of the palliative provided by the Federal and Nasarawa State Governments in their local government areas.
He said that the committee’s work was not to witch-hunt anybody but to ensure that the right thing was done for the betterment of the state.
The committee chairman said that they would not leave any stone unturned in carrying out the exercise to justify government spending on palliative.
He called on government officials to always adhere strictly to the state government directives in the interest of peace and the overall development of the state.
Honourable Abel commended Awe and Lafia Local Government Areas for a job well done in the distribution of the palliatives in their areas.
