Nasarawa Assembly passes N110.8bn amended budget into law

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has passed into law N110.8billion amended budget of 2022 to the House for reconsideration and passage by Gov. Abdullahi Sule.

The Speaker of the House, Balarabe Abdullahi, announced the passage of the budget into law after the majority leader of the House, Hon Tanko Tunga moved a motion to that effect which was seconded by the minority leader of the House, Abel Bala, during the House proceedings in Lafia.

The speaker said that the amended budget was necessary to strengthen the system and to implement a realistic 2022 budget in the state.

This is in the best interest of our people and for the overall development of the state.

” A Bill for a law to authorize the issue out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the State (Appropriation Bill) of the sum of 110, 849, 954, 879.49 only for the services of Nasarawa State Government for 12 months, commencing from 1st January 2022 ending 31st December 2022 is read for the third time and passed. 

” N71, 770, 512, 458. 57 only as recurrent expenditure and N39,079,442,420.92 only as capital expenditure,” the Speaker said.

The speaker further appreciated members for their commitment and determination in ensuring the development of the state.

“I thank you all for your commitment and your passion for the state. I will enjoin you to continue in that spirit, we are doing exactly what our people have sent us to do here,” he said.

The speaker directed the clerk of the House to produce a clean copy of the bill for Gov. Sule’s assent.

Meanwhile, the Majority Leader (APC Awe North),  moved a motion for the passage of the amended bill into law after he spoke extensively on the need for his colleagues to support its passage considering the benefits it has on the entire citizens.

Hon. Abel Bala (PDP- Nassarawa Eggon West), the Minority Leader of the House econded the motion. The House unanimously passed the amended budget into law.

It would be recalled that on Dec. 9,  2021, Gov. Abdullahi Sule presented the 2022 budget proposal of N109.8 billion to the State House of  Assembly for consideration and approval.

Recalled that on Dec. 22, 2021, the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has passed  N114. 3bilion 2022 budget into law.
