Nasarawa Assembly To Enhance Women Welfare, Protect Child Rights

Nasarawa State House of Assembly committee on Women Affairs has pledged to support the State Ministry of Women Affairs for enhanced service delivery.

Chairman of the committee, Hon. Hajara Danyaro Ibrahim, APC Nasarawa Central stated this when the State Commissioner for Women Affairs Hajia Aisha Rafai Ibrahim paid her a visit in her office in Lafia.

Hon. Danyaro who spoke extensively on the significant role of the ministry in enhancement of welfare of women, children and disable people and their general wellbeing reiterated the state assembly’s commitment towards giving the ministry all the needed support to succeed.

” I want to commend you for the visit to brief the committee on the activities of the ministry before the budget defence.

” We will work in synergy with you in order to improve on the welfare of the women, disabled and other vulnerable groups in the state,” she noted.

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiah Aisha Rafai said she was in her office alongside lined agencies of the ministry to acquaint themselves with the House committee ahead of budget defence and assessment.

The ministry is in your office for familiarisation visit to brief the committee on the activities of the ministry and it challenges before the official budget defense,”  she stated.

The visit centred on emerging issues like welfare of women, the disability people in the society, child abuse and out of school children, street begging and hawking and ways to achieve violence free society as  government empowerment programs were also discussed.
