The Executive Chairman of Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Council of Nasarawa State, North Central Nigeria, Iliya Ibn Aliyu, has declared an infrastructural emergency, pledging a complete renovation and modernization of the council Secretariat to enhance workplace efficiency.

The chairman stated this after an extensive tour of the Local Government Secretariat and its facilities.

In a statement issued by the Council Information Officer, Usman Isa Adagazu, he noted that the Chairman’s inspection revealed significant concerns about the Secretariat’s condition, including staff absenteeism, which he condemned as “indiscipline and sabotage.”

He described the low staff turnout and the Secretariat’s condition as “unacceptable and reflective of deliberate neglect.

The dilapidation here affects every corner of our Secretariat. Not a single office is adequately equipped for effective service delivery” he said.

His observations extended to the Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Education Authority office, which also showed extensive infrastructural neglect.

He expressed disappointment over the deteriorating state of the official residential facilities within the area and highlighted unauthorised encroachments on government land.

Aliyu, urged illegal occupants of council properties to vacate immediately or face legal action, emphasizing that “sanity must be restored within the council’s administration.”

The Chairman is committed in renovating and furnishing these facilities to restore a conducive working environment, as plans are in place for necessary maintenance to restore the government vehicles with mechanical issues for efficient council operations.

The Chairman was accompanied by the Deputy Chairman Yusuf Mada, Council Secretary Emmanuel Yaro Kuje, the Director of Personnel Management, Director of Works, Director of Social Services, Director of Agriculture, and Director of Finance.
