Women in Nasarawa state have been urged to take advantage of the distribution of PVCs in various Electoral Wards to step up mobilizations for the collection of their permanent voter’s cards before the dateline.
The call was made by the Wife of Nasarawa State Governor, Hajia Silifat Sule, during a Conference for Women in Politics, in Lafia the North-Central capital of the state.
Hajia Silifat represented at the occasion by the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Gov. Sule on Political matters, Mrs. Beauty Ebu, said the call became imperative because of the huge number of uncollected PVCs.
She stated that women had the potential to make the change for the better, given their numerical strength and resilience, especially during political activities.
She, further, appealed to Nasarawa women as well as other residents to vote for Asiwaju, Bola Tinubu, the Presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Gov. Sule, and other candidates of the party in the 2023 general election.
Speaking, the Nasarawa State APC Women Leader, Mrs. Blessing Ebuga, explained that the conference was to mobilize support to ensure victory for the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 election.
Mrs. Ebuga noted that Tinubu Shettima’s presidency was the best choice APC had made given their rich records of achievements in their various endeavors.
She promised to begin a house-to-house campaign for the governor because he has appointed three female Commissioners, and many other women to juicy positions and promised to do more if re-elected.
Also, the Wife of the Chairman of Lafia Local Government Area, Hajiya Zainab Maifata, commended the state APC Women Leader for putting up the conference to enlighten women ahead of the general election.
She also advised that benefits and patronage from the government should be extended to more people in the rural areas and not restricted to only relations of those who have people in government.
Marginalization
Similarly, the Guest Speaker at the event, Dr. Fatima Abdullahi, urged women to increase their participation in the political process and not to only allow men; thereby turning around later with complaints of marginalization.
She also commended Gov. Sule for appointing three women as Commissioners and many others into various positions in government and urged him to do more when re-elected.
The conference had in attendance women from the 13 Local Government Areas of the state.
