Nassarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has sworn in 16 commissioners screened and confirmed by members of the Nassarawa State House of Assembly.
While swearing them in, Gov. Sule charged them to shun corrupt tendencies and key into his administration’s vision of transparency, accountability, and rule of law.
The New commissioners are Hon. Yakubu Kwanta as Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, (Akwanga LGA); Aishatu Rufai Commissioner for Women Affairs (Awe LGA); Umar Abubakar Dan’akano, Commissioner for Agriculture, (Awe LGA); Munirat Abdullahi Commissioner for Finance (Doma); Timothy Kasuwa Commissioner for Special Duties on Security and Public Matters, (Karu); Ja’afaru Ango Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development (Karu); Margaret Elayo as Commissioner for Special Duties on Humanitarian Services and NGOs, (Keana); Bala Mulki- Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development, (Keffi) and John D W Mamman as Commissioner for Education (Kokona LGA).
Others are Abubakar Imam Zanwa, Commissioner for Water Resources and Rural Development (Lafia); Mr Samuel Kafu Emgba Commissioner for Science and Technology (Lafia); Ahmed Tijjani as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Nasarawa LGA; Muhammed Iyimoga Commissioner for Trade and Investment (Obi); Barr. Labaran Magaji Commissioner for Justice (Toto LGA); Dr. Gaza Gwamna as Commissioner for Health- (Toto) and Mu’azu Gosho as Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport Wamba LGA.

Sule urged the new commissioners to justify the confidence Government reposed in them.
“I want to congratulate you on your well-deserved appointments as we have made wider consultations in the selection of Commissioners across the state.
“I want to implore you to key into my administration’s vision of transparency and accountability and you are to shun corrupt tendencies.
“I also urge you to be dedicated and hardworking as this administration cherishes hard work, commitment, and loyalty,” Gov. Sule said.
Sule further assured of his administration’s continuous determination to key into good policies and programs that would have a direct bearing on the lives of the people of the state.
Governor Abdullahi Sule specifically commended the Speaker Rt. Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi and his members for the speedy screening and confirmation of the commissioners.
The Governor announced that the state government would distribute the palliatives it received from the Federal Government this week to alleviate the suffering the people are facing as a result of the effects of subsidy removal in the country.
Good governance
Meanwhile, Barr Muhammad Aliyu Ubandoma, the Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State, appreciated Gov. Sule for providing good governance and the much-needed dividends of democracy to the people of the state
The SSG said that the new commissioners were screened and confirmed by the members of the State House of Assembly and were cleared by security.
“Nasarawa State has never had it so good as now because of his Excellency’s good policies and programs”, he said.
Governor Sule had on July 28, 2023 submitted a list of 17 commissioner nominees to the State House of Assembly for screening and possible confirmation as members of the state executive council.
The House then on August 1st, screened and confirmed 16 out of the 17 commissioner nominees sent to the House for confirmation by the Governor
Speaker of the House, Hon Balarabe Abdullahi, said that a commissioner nominee, Haruna Musa from Nassarawa Eggon LGA did not appear for the screening, saying that he was indisposed at the moment.
