Nasarawa: Lawmakers to Fastrack passage of 2022 budget

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly says it is committed to ensuring the quick passage of the 2022 budget before the end of the year.

The Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Aliyu Dogara, who stated this while speaking to Journalists in Lafia on Sunday explained that despite the late presentation of the budget by Governor Abdullahi Sule due to renovation work at the assembly, “The House is committed to supporting him to deliver on his mandate of improving the socio-economic well-being of the citizens.

“As well as benefits from the world Bank assisted foreign grant through IMF and SIFTAS associated with the early passage of budget before next physical year.

He said that members sacrificed their weekend to be in the office Saturday and Sunday to attend to the budget to ensure its quick passage as well as meet up with the target given to them by Speaker Balarabe Abdullahi.

“We are working throughout the entire weekend, yesterday Saturday we are here and today Sunday we are here still and we are not closing till 7 pm to ensure that we do the needful

“Our target is to submit our report next tomorrow Tuesday and we are doing everything humanly possible to ensure that we meet the target” 

” Honourable Members have been here and we are tiding up the State 2022 budget proposal,” Dogara said.

It was gathered that the Chairman of the Finance and Appropriation Committee, Aliyu Dogara and that of Public Accounts, Dahiru Angibi and their Secretaries were seen in the office on Sunday attending to the budget as various committees of the House through their chairmen or secretaries submitting their final copies.
