Nasarawa moves to establish Waste Management and Sanitation Agency

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has received the report of the House Joint Committee on Housing and Environment / Health on a Bill for a Law to Establish the Nasarawa State Waste Management and Sanitation Authority (NASWAMSA) and for other Connected matters.

The Speaker of the assembly, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, who received the report, scheduled March 22, 2021, for deliberation on the report, after Mr  Luka Iliya-Zhekaba (PDP-Obi 11), the Chairman of the Joint Committee, presented the document during the House proceedings on Monday, March 8 in Lafia, the state capital.

Abdullahi said that the bill if passed and signed into law would ensure environmental cleanliness and control of waste in the state.

“The importance of environmental cleanliness to human and societal development cannot be overemphasized, as a healthy nation is a wealthy nation.

“I will slate March 22, 2021 for deliberation on the report of the House Joint Committee on Housing and Environment / Health on a Bill for a Law to Establish the Nasarawa State Waste Management and Sanitation Authority (NASWAMSA)  and for other Connected matters,” he said.

He commended the committee for a job well done.

Earlier, iliya-Zhekaba while presenting the committee’s report, thanked the speaker and other members of the legislature for giving them the assignment.

He assured of the body’s continued commitment to deliver on any assignment given to it.
