The Nasarawa State Police Command has called on residents to intensify efforts in building a strong and sustainable partnership with security agencies, particularly in the areas of intelligence gathering and information sharing, to effectively curb criminal activities across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Mohammed-Jauro, made the call while briefing journalists in Lafia, the state capital.
He emphasised that credible and timely information from members of the public remains critical to reducing crime to the barest minimum.
Mohammed-Jauro commended residents for their continued cooperation, noting that actionable intelligence provided by citizens has greatly assisted the police in tracking and arresting criminal elements in various parts of the state.
According to him, policing is a collective responsibility that cannot be effectively carried out without the active involvement of the public. He stressed that the willingness of residents to volunteer credible information has significantly enhanced the operational effectiveness of the Command.
The Commissioner also expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police and the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, for providing the enabling environment and necessary resources that have allowed the police to perform their duties professionally and without hindrance.
He disclosed that credible intelligence received from the public recently led to the arrest of 12 suspects, the recovery of firearms, ammunition, as well as the successful rescue of seven victims from suspected kidnappers without injury.
CP Mohammed-Jauro reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to upholding the rule of law, assuring residents that the police will continue to intensify efforts to ensure lasting peace and security across Nasarawa state.
