Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youths Bags Award of Excellence

The Nasarawa State Government has reiterated its willingness to work with relevant organisations with the vision of impacting positively on the lives of young people to better their livelihoods across the state.

The State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Lucky Yarwa, stated this when he received the two awards from the Nigeria Vogue Media & Integrity Academy and the Adolescent and Youth Sexual Reproductive Health Technical Working Group, held in Lafia, the State capital.

The conferment of the two major awards to the Honourable Commissioner was for his numerous innovations and contributions to the growth and development of youth and sports as well as support to adolescents and society.

The first award, “THE FIRST EXEMPLARY AND PATRIOTIC YOUTH COMMISSIONER IN NIGERIA/NIGERIAN INTEGRITY AMBASSADOR TITLE” which was presented by the order and seal of Nigeria Vogue Media & Integrity Academy, was in recognition of the Commissioner’s worthy impact for the greater nation building and his proficiency and tactfulness in leadership and peace-building mechanism through the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.

The award and investiture were presented at the Office of the Commissioner by the Media Diplomat, Executive Officer cum Editor-in-Chief, Publisher, and All Nigeria Integrity Ambassador Campaigner-General of Nigeria Vogue Media, Dr. Taliat Ola.

In his acceptance remarks, the Commissioner thanked the Organisation for finding him worthy of the recognition and said it was a call to do more for humanity and society.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Isah Eyah appreciated the Organisation for identifying with the Commissioner as well as the activities of the Ministry despite being located in the South-Western part of the country.

He noted that the award to the Commissioner deserved as it would spur him to continue to impact lives and society.

The next award was courtesy of the Nasarawa State Adolescents and Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health Technical Working Group, supported by the Ministry of Health and the Nasarawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency.

During the presentation of the award by the leader of the delegation, Dr. Nawani Aboki, he said the act was in acknowledgment of the support by the Commissioner towards the activities of the aforementioned organisations and target audience in Nasarawa State.

Amb. Yargwa expressed elation to the organisation for noticing his meager contributions for the honor, pledging to continue to render effective services to the citizens and State at large in line with the mandate of Governor Abdullahi Sule on “Exceeding All Expectations.”

The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development also hosted the Local Leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, who were on a familiarisation visit to him.

This was led by the State’s Chairman, Comr. Mohammed Jaafar Loko, the delegation which comprised the State’s EXCO and Coordinators of Local Government Areas, requested a seamless working relationship with the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development for effective service delivery.

The group also appealed to the Commissioner to persuade his Local Government, Community Development, and Chieftaincy Affairs counterparts to give adequate priority to members of the Council by appointing them into areas of importance to contribute their quota to the overall development of the State.
